Sunisa’s working on a novel set in 1970s Thailand about three students who radicalize and join a pro-democracy movement. The book was inspired by stories she heard growing up from her mother and uncle, who attended universities that were at the center of the student movement at the time.
When Sunisa was doing research on the period, she was surprised to discover that some members of the nobility radicalized. This led her to take up the challenge and make the main character noble. What an interesting contradiction to work for free elections and opportunity for others, since if the character succeeded, he would dismantle many of the privileges he enjoyed. This paradox propelled Sunisa through writing of manuscript.
